Confirming and Keeping Your Dental Appointments

Do have a dental appointment coming up soon? Have you confirmed it? If you haven’t you should do so now. It’s important you confirm and keep your appointment to avoid any setbacks or getting penalized by your dental office.

When you set an appointment with your dental office, you are setting aside a time not just for you but for the office and its staff. It is valuable thing which is why reciprocal respect of each other’s time is critical. Dental staff make the time to prepare for your visit, to care for your needs, and to complete your treatment. It’s time allocated to serve you.

Yes, there are times where emergencies come up and offices are willing to accommodate for such incidents. However, repeated failed appointments and short cancellations done in less than 48 hours is not a good reflection on you and doesn’t allow for another patient to get their dental needs met. It gives your dental office less time to accommodate another patient who may need treatment.

You should also consider the penalty dental offices have when patients have failed to meet their appointments repeatedly or cancelled on short notice. Some dental offices will charged you for missed appointments. It’s good to know ahead of time if you’ll be able to meet your appointment time.

We can’t stress enough the importance of confirming your appointment. When you receive a call or text from your dental office asking to confirm your appointment, it is the perfect time to double check your calendar and confirm you can still make it. If not, then notify them to reschedule for another day and time. It keeps costs at a minimum for your dental office when you confirm dental appointments.

Ignoring confirmation calls does not opt you out nor does it cancel your appointment. You need to call to respond in order to cancel or reschedule an existing appointment. Consider not only yourself in this equation but your dental office and potential patients who could be receiving dental treatment should you choose not to attend.

Confirmation and keeping appointments reflects well on your part but also gives you time set aside to care for your dental needs and treatment. Time scheduled is for dental staff to serve you and ensure your receiving best dental treatment you deserve. So, make sure you confirm your next dental appointment.

Going…Going…GONE!

Save money…..read this!

We discovered, according to the National Association Of Dental Plans that an astounding 97.8% of PPO plan participants never reach or exceed their dental plan maximums. The consequences of not utilizing yearly dental benefits are costly, and we are here to help to maximize your plan.

Here are just a few reasons why you want to complete any necessary dental treatment before the new year.

  • Yearly Maximums Reset: Insurances give an annual dollar maximum of what you can spend on dental care. Every year insurances reset your individual and possibly family maximums. Sadly, these benefits are not like cell phone minutes and roll over. If you do not use them, they are gone!
  • Annual Deductibles Reset: Like most Medical Insurance, Dental Insurances have Deductibles which are a specific amount of out-of-pocket money you have to pay before your benefits begin to cover any services. Typically an individual and family deductible ranges between $25-$150 per year. Unfortunately, this money must be paid each year newly before coverage comes into play. Yearly Deductibles usually do not apply to routine dental check-ups and cleanings and come due when dental treatment is needed.  Maximize your dollars and complete any required dental treatment you have this year.
  • Premiums Remain Active: As long as you or your employer has paid your Dental Insurance Premium, you have benefits, why not use them? Take advantage of the FREE dental services which are provided per your plan and use the percentages of coverage to facilitate completing any needed dental procedure. Look at your dental insurance as a bank of money set aside for your dental well being. A specific amount of money is deposited into your account typically at the beginning of the year (calendar year plans) and is yours to use until it is gone or expires, which is usually January 1 each new year.
  • Dental Fees Increase: Dental fees charged by dental offices, and allowed by Dental Insurances tend to rise at the beginning of each year to accommodate for cost of living and materials. These increases could lead to a higher co-pay. You can divert some of those increased costs by maintaining your regular six-month check-ups, dental cleanings and completing your dental treatment at the time of diagnosis.
  • Avoid Exacerbated Dental Problems: Waiting to complete simple dental treatment, such as a cavity can turn into extensive dental treatment. Through proper oral care, following the dental hygiene instructions of your hygienist and completing necessary dental treatment, you can avoid future costly procedures.

The best approach to maximizing and utilizing your Dental Insurance benefits is to work with your dental office’s Treatment Coordinator. Through establishing some simple treatment plan goals and financial planning, you can maximize your current and future dental plan benefits.

As a Special Gift to you, we are giving FREE Teeth Whitening to all our dental patients who complete their dental treatment now through December 31st, 2017, this is a $300 savings!

Don’t miss out on using your Dental Benefits, and FREE Teeth Whitening! Contact us today to see how we can help you save money while maintaining good oral health!

Massive Fire Nearly Destroys Dental Office

Massive Fire Nearly Destroys Dental Office

David L. Steed

One year ago, a massive 4-alarm fire erupted in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The fire was set by an electrician working on the construction site adjacent to The Center of Dental Professional’s downtown offices at around 6pm. Salt Lake City fire fighters responded to several calls from neighbors and set up a defensive perimeter around the burning building to keep other businesses and homes safe from harm.

The fire continued to burn for several hours as emergency crews battled the blaze. Temperatures became so intense that a construction crane overlooking the inferno collapsed into the building remains. With several onlookers taking pictures and video, the fire was safely contained with very little damage done to surrounding structures.

One year later The Center of Dental Professionals is still doing business. Thanks to the heroic efforts of the Salt Lake City Fire Department, the dental offices suffered very little damage and caused our staff to only miss a single day of office appointments.
