Noticing white spots on your teeth after orthondontic treatment mainly brace treatment? It’s not the confidence booster we need after we’ve had our braces removed. We all want to have a smile to show off every time we laugh, smile, or getting ready for the picture.
Now, we can get rid of the white spots using MI Paste from GC America. At The Center of Dental Professionals, we are pleased to introduce this product to treat white spots and restore the calcium and phosphate to the tooth’s surface.
What Are White Spots?
White spots are noticeable and can be caused for various reasons. Some of the reasons we can have white spots are:
- Fluorosis – is when large amounts of fluoride are consumed. Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay; however, excessive causes the opposite effect of prevention by causing discoloration and tooth decay.
- Enamel Hypoplasia – is the improper formation of the enamel. It is a result of nutritional deficiency, high fever, side effects of medicinal, and prenatal smoking which causes mineral loss of the tooth. Less mineralized teeth are more prone to tooth decay.
- Plaque Accumulation – when bacteria plaque accumulates on the tooth, white spots can occur due to demineralization of the tooth. Plaque buildup is a result of poor hygiene usually a problem after having brace treatment. Demineralized teeth can lead to tooth decay.
Treatment can vary depending on the patient’s case and the severity of the condition. You want to consult with your dentist first.
What Does MI Paste Do?
MI Paste is a professional product containing an active ingredient known for its trademark name RECALDENT, a naturally occurring milk protein referred to as CPP-ACP (casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate). RECALDENT can restore calcium and phosphate ions into the tooth structure to repair and strengthen the areas damaged by bacterial plaque.
Phosphate and calcium plays a critical role in the formation of the hard structure of our bones and teeth and keeping them healthy. When bacteria demineralize our teeth, the calcium is removed from the hard tissue making our teeth vulnerable to some dental problems such as tooth sensitivity and tooth decay.
MI Paste is not toothpaste but tooth creme you can apply twice a day to rebuild the damaged areas or prevent white spots from occurring during orthodontic treatment. MI Paste does not irritate dry mouths but helps relieve tooth sensitivity and oral mucosa, strengthen the enamel, and buffer the acids the bacteria in our mouth produce.
At our offices, you can now get MI Paste which we recommend for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. You will still need to brush and floss your teeth regularly and with care for healthy teeth, but MI Paste can provide the extra boost your teeth need to help prevent white spots from forming during treatment. It’s an easy-to-use product you can use in the dental office and at home.
If you are currently undergoing brace treatment and are interested in the MI Paste, ask one of our dental staff about the product and how you can start using it NOW.
